Villa Alba

DESIGN & DECORATION SHOW HOUSE 2001
‘La Prise de the Chez un Bourgeoise’

A group of interior designers were invited to decorate a room in the historic Villa Alba. The challenge was that we were not to add any holes to the walls or architraves as it is a heritage listed house, so we used any existing fittings and planned the room around them. This room was designed as a decadent tea party setting. Bursting with a French inspired palette of delicious, vibrant colours, the room is a feminine space for ladies to enjoy delicious cakes and fine tea. All the upholstered furniture was custom made in beautiful richly textured French fabrics. The Tony Phillips orchid painting compliments the French feminine feel. The cake was especially made with exquisite detail by the talented Amanda Way, and was complimented by fine Limoges chinaware. The French antiques from Miguel Meirelles are perfectly at home in this beautiful Victorian heritage building.

View fullsize We made these blinds over 13 years ago for a client. They have stood the test of time and look just as good as the day we installed them. The floral design is quite spectacular and by using a translucent lining it allows the fabric to radiate with a
View fullsize It was such a joy designing this playful sitting room. The cheeky monkey wallpaper sets the tone and complements the chartreuse embroidered curtains we made. It’s such a cosy and creative room to sit and read a book in.

View fullsize What a fun weekend we had celebrating our favourite pet shops’ 3rd birthday. Both Liza and Lucy had bespoke outfits I designed with a lot of help from my mum who hand crocheted the flowers and appliqué motifs to fit the Pawchella theme.

View fullsize We added this chunky bullion fringe to the bottom of some curtains we made for a client for their previous house. The curtains were so beautiful she had to take them to her new house. The fringing was a clever way of making the curtains longer to fit
View fullsize I love how this sitting room in a Victorian house is shaping up. The chair is upholstered in a soft denim blue linen and the cushions have been carefully curated, using a small brush fringing to make them extra special. Such a great colour combinatio
